Scientists Observe

Each year on the first day of public school, when the kids go inside, I try and take my kids outside.  One of those, just because we can type of things.
Lucky for me a friend and her 4 kids she homeschools wanted to join us.  The day was going to be so fun.
We hiked to the top of wickersham dome in the white mountains.  The wind was super intense.  We found a small valley of sorts to hunker down out of the wind and eat our lunch.
We looked at the big wide world
and we looked at the up close and small world.
But where I envisioned us taking out our colored pencils and coloring in our science journals I realized the kids couldn't even hold a pencil they were so cold.  So off we went, back down the mountain to the warmth of the car.
I was so proud of these kids and the troopers they were to their mom's crazy ideas.  This is what I love most about homeschool.
I am also so thankful for friends that make the most unpleasant situation a little more bearable.
Most important I love that we got out into the world God created for us.  Signs of fall are starting to arrive.  I really am not wanting winter this year but need to find the joy in today as we have it.
