Josh spent all of November and part of December working at a gold mine south of us in Alaska. He would be bused down there and work for a couple weeks, come home and then do it again. We are all thankful that this isn't his full time job but it was quite the experience for him for short term.
And while there he asked a lot of questions, took pictures of what he could and brought home a few select core samples to share with the kids.
Best science lessons ever come right from the source. Through Josh's short-term job the kids have gotten the chance to learn all the working order of a gold mine. It is a big deal to go from rock in the ground to gold bars in the bank!
